Husky-Hike around Abisko
Explore the untouched wilderness around Abisko and enjoy incredible views while learning about the life of a musher and everything there is to know about sleddogs. This is a guided hiking tour in which each guest will get their own husky. And yes, they will actually pull you!
What to expect:
We are meeting at the Mountain Lodge Parking Lot, easily accessible from Abisko Östra. After a short introduction, we will pick up the dogs at the dog yard.  You will be connected with a NonStop-Trekkingbelt and a bungee-leash that enables you to have your hands free to take lots of pictures. At the half-way point,  we will take a longer break, during which you will be able to cuddle the dogs and give them treats. The hiking distance is approximately 5 km, depending on the speed and endurance of the participants.
Type of hiking: Moderate hiking on and off hiking trails. You have to be stable on your feet.
Starting times:
From June to September
5 days a week
Starting at 14:00 until 16:00
You can book your tour until 10:30 on the same day.
Number of participants: 1 to 5 persons
650 SEK
Language: German and English

Good to know:
What to bring:
Ensure you come well-prepared with appropriate footwear. Hiking-Boots with ankle support are the ideal choice so you are able to enjoy the hike fully. You are welcome to bring treats for the dogs, but there will be some for you to give to the huskies on the tour as well.
Weather
The tour will take place in all weather conditions (rain, wind or snowfall). The only reason for canceling a tour would be a risk to the health of guests or dogs. Understand that because the wellbeing of the dogs is incredibly important, unusually hot temperatures for the area could lead to a cancellation of the tour.
Can I join the tour without having a husky pull me?
Yes, If you don't feel confident with a dog pulling you or you are not stable on your feet, you can still join the tour.

Your guide: Michelle

Originally I am from Austria but fell in love with the Arctic through hiking and sleddogs. Abisko is a place of extremes and the best part for me is the fact that you will never have a boring day here. Especially when taking care of 7 dogs and driving a sled by yourself through some of the most untouched landscapes in Europe. I used to work as a sleddog-guide, but now I am focusing on building my own team.

Let me show you some of my favorite places around Abisko and share my passion for dogs with you.
Meet the dogs
Keona
As the Main-Leaddog, Keona knows her worth! She is definitely a princess and loves attention. With her enormous ears and eyes she will be the first to spot any wildlife that we might come across.
Rummy
You ordered an extra portion of strength and not so much brain? Rummy is your guy! 30 kilos of pure muscle will pull you up any mountain and he only asks for head scratches in return.
Edda
The sister of Rummy and SkipBo loves belly rubs like no other. She will mesmerize you with her two-coloured eyes and her big personality. Edda believes that she is the center of the universe.
Ikea
Leaddog-in-training in the winter. Cuddly wolf in the summer. She will definitely steal your heart! You won't be the first person who would like to take her home with you after the tour.
Skip-Bo
A gentle giant that loves to play with his brother and has an obsession with a tennis ball. Deep inside he wants to be a Pomeranian that would sit on your lap, the only problem is that he is a little bit to heavy for that.
Vistas
As the youngest of the pack, he still has a lot to learn. He might be young but he is definetly not small! Vistas is fearless, very social and curious. At the moment his favorite activities are eating, playing and chewing on shoes.
